It’s hard to imagine that you could work a job, get a raise, and have the value of how you are paid not even keeping up with the basic costs of living. However, this is our current situation in the United States with inflation rates soaring 7.5%, which is at a 40 year high. But why is inflation so high? Inflation is based on the consumer price index which is a composite of a “basket of goods” from popular consumer industries such as health, education, transportation, and travel, to name a few.
