YouTube remains the most popular platform for video content creators. As of this week, however, it appears that the Google subsidiary has taken an aggressive stance toward content related to cryptocurrencies.
YouTube Shuns Content Creators
The years 2018 and 2019 has been filled with complaints by YouTube content creators. Several changes to the platform’s algorithm have made it far more difficult for smaller channels to gain any traction. There are still some issues regarding channel upload notifications, which need to be turned on and off regularly.
Revenue streams have also shifted significantly. Smaller creators will have far less revenue due to some changes behind the scenes. This has caused a lot of controversy among users, and there is little improvement in sight.
It now appears the company is going after cryptocurrency-oriented content creators. Not just by demonetizing their videos, but they are effectively being removed from the platform for some reason. It is evident that this is either a massive flaw, or a targeted action against bitcoin content creators.
What is Going on Exactly?
Numerous Youtubers have come forward to complain about their videos being removed. In most cases, the platform claims the content uploaded is “harmful or dangerous”. That is a bit of an unusual stance, as these videos discuss cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.
.@YouTube just removed most of my crypto videos citing "harmful or dangerous content" and "sale of regulated goods"… it's been 10 years of making videos, 200k+ subs, and 7M+ views. WTF are you guys doing @TeamYouTube?! pic.twitter.com/MPcKbBVrC4

To make matters worse, the removal of these videos is only the first step. Some users now have an official strike on their channel, which will not be removed. Furthermore, some creators are banned from uploading new content for a full week. It is evident that YouTube wants nothing to do with cryptocurrencies at this point, albeit the exact reasoning behind this decision remains unclear.
